Hacking with brainiacs in the cafe

Sometimes it's nice to work in the bustle of the Progressive Grounds Cafe, where occasionally you are joined by local San Fran brainiacs hacking code that is going to change the world while sipping espresso drinks and complaining about the state of Linux. Better keep an eye on your laptop and smartphone because the guy outside pulling bottles from the trash barrel might just run in and nab your devices. Or maybe that cranky hipster over there will.

Fog Season Begins

The cold summer of San Francisco is ready to begin, as you can see in this photo from my downtown office window of the fat pillow of whiteness lying on top of Twin Peaks with the Sutro Tower stabbing up through.

Baconwood Festival

I have just arrived at the remote site of the First Annual Baconwood Festival and, as one of the few first arrivals, got to choose a cabin overlooking much of the site (lat/lon/elev 39.31980,-123.70352,33m).

Sunny San Francisco

These are nice sunny days to be working in San Francisco, before the howling fogs of summer make the unprepared tourists shudder and fold their arms after snapping quick pictures.

Moving Slips

Helped Chris and Deborah move their lovely 36ft sailboat to a new slip in the Berkeley Marina.

All my big plans for this weekend are ruined by a sudden attack of low fever, scratchy throat, and endless sniffles.  The only thing I have managed to achieve is to create a small mountain of used tissues tossed onto the floor next to my bed...
